Pressestimmen
'Harden's new volume constitutes virtually a mini-biography of Thackeray, largely compiled from his own letters, diaries and published works. It includes much useful information on personal and business matters, and sheds light on his writing practices...It is therefore a very welcome addition to the Macmillan series of literary chronologies.' - Catherine Peters, Times Literary Supplement
'Professor Harden's achievements now rival those of Ray himself...an admirable and enjoyable guide to a delightful writer.' - Richard Mullen, Contemporary Review
